Accounts Receivable Senior Manager

1. What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?
My favorite part about working in the construction industry is the people that I meet and interact with on a daily basis. Whether it be with an accounting team member or project manager from one of our many general contractors, or even a co-worker down the hall, I have gained a multitude of knowledge about the steel industry and formed great relationships along the way.
As the old saying goes.. never stop learning because life never stops teaching!

2. What advice would you give another woman interested in working in construction?
To date, only 11% of the construction industry is made up of female workers. To be successful in this industry, you have to walk into a room knowing that you make up only a small percentage of construction employees while having the confidence that you belong. My advice to a woman interested in the construction field, or actually any other field of work, would be that you are in control of your own destiny! Whether it's one day or day one, show up and work hard. Contrary to what some may believe, success isn’t overnight. Be eager and willing every day to get a little better than the day before, and the characteristics of a successful woman will soon become evident. The last, and most important piece of advice, is to stay humble and always be willing to take the stairs, not the elevator!
