Cooper Steel Receives ABC of Greater Tennessee’s 2025 Excellence in Construction Eagle Award
Cooper Steel has proudly received an Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Tennessee 2025 Excellence in Construction Eagle Award in the Specialty Construction: Commercial Over $100M category for our work on Project Hankook. The program recognized top projects around the country completed by ABC regional chapter members.
Just fifty miles from the heart of Broadway, the state-of-the-art, approximately 2.2 million square feet manufacturing facility in Clarksville, Tennessee will make passenger car (PCR) and truck/bus (TBR) tires. Cooper Steel’s story on this project was one of trusted relationships, overcoming adversity, and the power of precise, yet adaptable scheduling.
The scope of this project encompassed eight ancillary buildings, a mixing building, and a warehouse area. From ice storms in the early winter to tornadoes in the spring and the limited laydown space on-site, this 16,500-ton project required meticulous planning, intricate sequencing and erection plans, creative problem-solving, and strategy.
With the tireless efforts of our on-site teams, fabrication operations, logistics and deliveries, and all other trades that utilized advanced scheduling technology, we were able to deliver more than 60,000 pieces with a 99.83% fabrication conformity rate and on-time erection.
We are proud to have contributed to this site, which will create more than 1,100 total estimated jobs right here in our home state of Tennessee. Further, the expansion project will double production at the plant. An innovator in its field, the owner is not just producing jobs, manufacturing tires, and helping the community, but it also has a commitment to recycling and using end-of-life tires for raw material in new tires and other products, which will make an impact not just in Clarksville but globally.
This project upheld the Cooper Steel standard – delivering superior structural steel products and services with uncompromising integrity for every customer. It was a testament to the power of trusted relationships and communicative processes.
