Meet Francis Turner!
For more than three years, Francis has been a valued member of the Cooper Steel team. As a Foreman, he helps lead our ironworker crews and plays a key role in delivering successful projects from the ground up.

"I have been a Foreman for Cooper Steel`s Self-Perform Group for nearly two years now. My daily work mainly involves looking over site drawings to ensure that the building we’re working on is going up as it should. Of course, we have deadlines and schedules that we must adhere to, so my goal is to keep the crew going as smoothly and as efficiently as possible.
Safety is always a priority when it comes to erecting structures, as there’s potential for people to get hurt. So, as a team, we all look out for each other.
The part of my job that I enjoy the most is seeing when we go from standing the first set of columns to hanging the last piece of the job. There’s just something about seeing a building finished where there was once nothing but dirt.
Whenever there is a challenge, I`m motivated by remembering: A man is not defined by how many times life knocks him down, but by how many times he chooses to stand back up. Keep on pushing when it’s hard. Keep your chin up. Keep on walking when the road feels lonely, and keep believing when doubt gets loud. Your struggles are not the end of your story; they’re molding you into the man you’re to be. So, rise up, straighten that crown, and keep moving forward. The best chapters of your life are waiting for you to write them."

A great school year starts with great leadership.
We kicked off the 2026-27 Twelve/Twelve Legacy program at Cooper Steel Arena with a special message from Rick Barnes. His encouragement and perspective set the tone for the year ahead as students, faculty, and supporters gathered to celebrate and prepare for what’s next.
A special thank you to Rick Barnes, as well as the volunteers and leaders who continue to make the Twelve/Twelve Legacy program a success. Here’s to a great year ahead!
