PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This unique project was a feat for our shop and erection teams, coming in at 1,580 squares of deck, 16,980 shop hours, and 43,804 field erection hours worked with no time lost to injuries.

The project included multi-level stage house framing over the main stage area and an upper dome consisting of over 400 pieces with an accuracy tolerance of half an inch. These materials were sub-sequenced and brought in to execute a top-down approach using lightweight, hybrid scissor lifts, electric winches, and chain falls. Due to the lack of ideal rigging points, many of the steel pieces had to be drifted into position using a block and tackle pully system. Further, considering the on-campus site conditions, the roof trusses had to be brought in and erected directly from the trailer. The trusses – 14 in total – weighed up to 21.5 tons each and were 91 feet in length.

This project required our team to overcome unique challenges and transform them into new opportunities.
